Slow Burns, Standouts, and One Very Unexpected Gargoyle
October flew by, but I still managed to squeeze in some great reads that were a mix of emotional, romantic, and totally unexpected. From small-town charm, a marriage in trouble, to a haunting fantasy, each one offered something completely different and kept me hooked.
Let’s talk books….
Out of the Woods by Hannah Bonam Young
Hannah Bonam Young continues to prove she’s the queen of heartfelt storytelling. Out of the Woods is full of emotion, growth, and her signature blend of humor and honesty. It’s one of those books that leaves you thinking about the characters long after you finish.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Raw, real, and full of heart. Hannah never misses.
Synopsis:
This second-chance romance is a bit different as our two main characters ARE married high school sweethearts. Again, this book has some really sad moments, but also so much love. I adored this one.

If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
Julie Olivia knows how to write characters that feel real. If It Makes You Happy is charming, warm, and full of that small-town connection that feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s friendship, self-discovery, and a love story that feels earned — not rushed.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet, funny, and full of feel-good moments. I loved being back in the 90’s
Synopsis:
Set in 1997, this small-town romance was the perfect fall read. Our MMC is a single (divorced) dad, who also happens to be a favorite among the locals, and he’s a baker at the local bakery. Everyone in the small town loves him, except his newest neighbor, our FMC. She’s a city-girl who recently moved to take over her parents Bed and Breakfast after her mom passed away. It’s enemies (ish) to lovers, second-chance romance and just a feel good found family storyline.

The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
It took me a minute to settle into this one, but once I did, I was completely drawn in. Rachel Gillig’s writing is haunting and cinematic and Bartholomew, the gargoyle, absolutely stole the show. Who knew a gargoyle could make me laugh this hard? Rory and Sybil’s chemistry had major slow-burn tension, and the devotion between them? 10/10.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Gorgeous writing, incredible atmosphere, and characters I can’t stop thinking about. The next book publishes Sept 26.
Synopsis:
Sybil, a Diviner, “dreams” visions from the Omens. From her dreams, she can predict things that will happen, so Diviners are highly sought after from royalty and common people to see what their future holds.
One by one, Diviners start disappearing from the Cathedral and Sybil tries to find them. OF COURSE there happens to be a rude, hot knight involved in this story….because, duh.

Final Thoughts
October’s reads gave me a mix of heart, humor, and high-stakes emotions…basically, everything I love in a good story. Heading into November, I’m ready for more unforgettable reads (and maybe a few holiday romances).
