Bourbon & Lipstick and The Girl Who Loved To Write both shared their 2018 Annual Airing of Grievances and it totally inspired me to share my own! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, we need to discuss a specific episode of Seinfeld that introduced us all to the holiday known as Festivus. Quite possibly one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes ever.
What is Festivus all about?
What is Festivus? It’s kinda the anti-Christmas. It’s about rebelling against what December can tend to be about; consumerism and commercialism. It’s a whacky holiday that is normally celebrated by having an undecorated aluminum pole (no decorated Christmas tree), taking part in an “Airing of Grievances” which is basically an opportunity to talk about everything and everyone that disappointed you in the past year. After the Airing of Grievances, you have a Festivus Dinner and then the Feats of Strength in which you the head of the household has to prove his strength by challenging another Festivus participant to a wrestling match. Festius is only over once the head of household has been pinned.
My 2018 Airing of Grievances
Paper Straws. I get it, straws can be wasteful and bad for the environment. I just absolutely hate paper straws. I think it’s a texture thing!?! Ya girl has to order a metal straw to be prepared when out in public. The paper straws get soggy and tend to fall apart. I just flat out hate them.
Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeno Dip. Damn you, I just can’t quit you. My stomach hates me when I indulge in this delicious dip, but yet, I still keep on eating it. It’s like a kinda spicy ranch and they serve it with warm chips. It’s amazing and my lactose intolerant self just can’t walk away from it.
2018 Politics Do I try to be a good American citizen and stay up-to-date on news and politics?! YES. Do I also hate the politics in 2018? You better believe it. I shake my head more times than I’d like to admit and have found that I just have no words left anymore to describe the shit show that I see happening in our country.
Bras I get it, we “have” to wear one, but damn it I hate them. I’ve bought so many bras this year that turned out to be the most uncomfortable things ever. My boobs are falling out, it’s riding up my back, my straps are either too tight or falling off. The point is, I hate most bras I’ve worn this year. Don’t get me started on the underwear with the random sewn-in line going up the butt. Is this supposed to make my butt look more appealing!!? I’m confused.
Beauty “Influencer” Community I could probably say a lot of the “influencer” community, but I’m talking about the Beauty community right now. What the hell has happened to everyone?!? It used to be such an amazing group of women and men supporting one another and talking about how much we loved makeup. It’s now a total mess. Competition and money ruined this community. (Also, let it be known I hate the word Influencer)
Forgetting Basic Manners I could probably write an entire blog post about this topic. When did it become ok to forget to say things like please, thank you and you’re welcome?!? How about holding doors open for people behind you? What about just being polite and saying hello, good morning? Don’t even get me started on Thank You notes……
and some more…….
Bloggers, Instagramers and YouTubers sharing extravagant everything and making others feel like there life is shit compared to them
People who go through the drive-thru ordering a ton of items (GO INSIDE)
Social media in 2018
When my dry shampoo doesn’t do the job
When Im the only one who knows how to put things in a dishwasher
People who treat retail and restaurant workers like garbage
People who don’t return carts
Toilet Paper put on the wrong way
When people test out products in the store and I don’t realize it until I purchased one and brought it home and it’s been opened
When someone tells me that my anxiety is probably in my head
When I’m still getting comments on why I don’t have children
Tis the Season….
I might sound like a horribly angry, bitter human being. Maybe I am?!? I try to not be, but dang it, this year has been one for the books for so many things! If you were to participate in an Airing of Grievances, what would you talk about?!?!
