Meet Benefit’s They’re Real Push-Up Liner. It’s a liner, unlike anything I’ve ever used before. Think Gel/Liquid Liner in one. The actual product has a rubber tip that is supposed to “hug” the lashes and give you an extreme close line to your actual lashes. I’ve used this now for well over two weeks and I’ve FINALLY figured out my final thoughts on this liner. I keep it real for you here on my blog….
- I love that this is a Matte black liner. It’s not too “Shiny” like some of them can be
- It doesn’t move once it is applied, almost immediately (Also a CON)
- Water-proof. It didn’t move when I was at the pool wearing it.
- I like the actual package (Kind of) because you click to get what product you need
- It is extremely hard to remove this product. I will say I didn’t try the remover they make, so that could make a huge difference. I have to use an oil based remover first and then I follow up with my Bioderma. It’s a real pain to remove.
- This flakes off on me. I get little “balls” I don’t know how else to describe them, on my face as the day goes on. I also get these same “balls” as I’m applying it because extra product is always left behind on the tip. No matter how little I’m using.
- Even just the smallest amount of product is way too much. I feel like I’m wasting product.
- The rubber tip doesn’t make it easy to get a nice straight line (more on this below) and I’m not sure if it’s the tip or if its the actual formula of the product.
- The price. To me, $24.00 is a lot of money for me to spend on a product that causes me so many issues
I really gave this liner a try. I had read so many bad reviews, but I wanted to see what I thought. Well, I’ve used it and I’m still not convinced. There are days where I really love this liner and other days when I just really hate this liner. This isn’t a product I find myself really excited about using and instead, I sit there for a second and say a little prayer that all goes well. For me, makeup shouldn’t be complicated and I feel like there is a slight learning curve when it comes to this liner and that bothers me. The other thing that really gets me irritated about this liner is that it doesn’t move once it’s applied. Yes, that can be great in certain situations, BUT let’s say you make a slight mistake and you need to correct it quickly. Nope. That liner isn’t moving. So while I appreciate that it definitely stays put, It also makes it very hard to remove. I’m not sure if it’s the combination of the rubber tip with that formula, but it just doesn’t work great to me. I know people who love this liner and that’s great, but for me, I just couldn’t say it was a product that I loved. Especially NOT at $24.00.
I wanted this liner to be everything they said it would be. Easy to use, Simple. Are there parts that I like about it? YES! I especially love how jet-black the formula is, but it’s just the, not-so-good parts, bother me more than the things that I actually like about it. I think that this is just going to be one of those products that you either really enjoy using it or you really dislike it. I feel like it’s just as easy to get a angled liner brush and use some gel liner to get a nice, simple winged eye look. It might also be a lot cheaper in the long run, also.
I filmed a YouTube video about this product along with a review of the Maybelline The Nudes Palette! You should take a look and see me explain all of this, ha! For some reason my video stopped recording at the end and I have no idea why, but I pretty much explained everything I wanted to explain. Enjoy!!! Have you tried The Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner? What were your thoughts? I’d love to know!!!
**You can see in the pictures below, I did actually wear this liner and it gives a great look. I have tried numerous times with it and I do like the finished look. I’ll give it that. It’s a great really, black liner! **
All thoughts and opinions are my own. All products mentioned were purchased by Simply Stine.

I’m sorry this didn’t work for you. I wear it everyday and love it.
I find there is a learning curve with most products. If you switch eyeliner brushes, it takes time to figure out its shape.
This is a very love hate item, and Benefit’s Videos misrepresented the product making it seem easier than it is.
I’m so glad that you like it! Like I said in my review, I know a lot of people who do really like it. It just didn’t love this one. I do feel like there was a little bit of PR issues with this launch.

Love the way this looks on you. I don’t have great luck with most liners but I want to try this.
Thank you!! For sure, give this a try! It works great for some!!
I want to try it since I have issues with my liner staying. I may hate it though because I have issues with straight lines.
You’ll love it because your liner will stay all day long. No matter what obstacles you’ll put it through, ha! However, it takes some practice!!!
Thank you for showing how the product looks close-up! I was wondering about it – and I’m thinking I may need this because I really love the mascara! <3
Yeah, give it a try!! You never know! I am a big fan of the mascara, just not this liner!

Yeah I am thinking this liner is not for me either. It is a bit pricey for it too be so hard. Ill stick with my cheapy NYX liner that is way less complicated. Perfect review and love love love the pictures. Especially being able to see your different looks you tested with it. Love that lippie!!

I love the way you always give the pros and cons. I’m a picture person and I really love the pics of this product. The eyeliner looks really good on you! I think I may have to try it. Thanks.
Thank you, Alli!!
I think I’m in the same boat; one eye looked AMAZING and the other was just strange. lol
Yeah, this liner can go the wrong way really quickly and you’re doomed at that point!
It looks SO good on you. I’ve heard mixed reviews but I really want to try this myself because I LOVE their mascara!
Thank you!!! The mascara I love as well!!

How awesome of Maybelline to so smartly lay out of the colors of that palette to work as duos, trios and quads! So so smart!
I know. I mean, all the colors are perfectly laid out for people who need a little bit of guidance!! It’s a fantastic palette!
They are Real mascara is one of my top three mascaras and that eyeliner, I am coveting so bad.
I love that mascara!!

I’ve been debating weather to make the splurge or not. I’m really tempted to make the plunge though!
I say go for it! Just give it a try because you might actually really like it!

It looks great on you, but doesn’t sound worth the price and hassle. Thanks for the honest review so I don’t buy it haha!

I actually adore this product and haven’t had issues so far with it 🙂 I was afraid to try it at first though because many others experienced what you did

I want to try this liner so bad! I might need to pick some up when I go back to Ulta or Sephora next.
Give it a try!! I think everyone should at least try this one out if you are curious.

So disappointing that it’s not great! I agree that for the price, it’s not worth it!
Thanks for being so honest with your review!
That’s always my goal!! It’s so frustrating sometimes to know when to spend the money on products or not, so I always hope my review helps!! Thanks for stopping by!
Great review. I recently tried this and I am taking mine back because I quite disliked it. Mine got all flaky and I didn’t think the application was the easiest or as easy as it could be for the price.
